Introduction
Türkiye is a country of 85 million people in the crossroads of Europe and Asia. Türkiye's unique geographical location is reflected in its rich history, vibrant culture and diverse cuisine.
The culture of Türkiye combines a heavily diverse and heterogeneous set of elements derived from the various cultures of the Eastern Mediterranean, Western Asia, Central Asia, and Middle East, with Eastern European and Caucasian traditions.
Many of these traditions were initially brought together by the Ottoman Empire, a multi-ethnic and multi-religious state.

What do Turkish people wear everyday?
Turkish women who embrace modern and secular lifestyles often dress similarly to their Western counterparts. They tend to prefer classical designs that incorporate tasteful colour combinations, and typically avoid transparent clothing and revealing necklines.
There are no strict clothing rules in Türkiye and women are not required to wear a headscarf. Modern and secular Turkish women dress similarly to their Western counterparts, preferring classical designs. Traditional Muslim attire and modern European fashion can be seen on city streets.
The Turkish hijab style, tesettür, involves loose clothing covering the body with a scarf covering the head and neck, but no restrictions on colour.
Turkish men usually wear modern European fashion in cities and traditional clothing in Anatolian and Southeast parts. In bigger cities, modern European fashion is prevalent on the streets. Business suits, long-sleeved shirts with jumpers, plain trousers or jeans are usually worn by Turkish men according to their job and lifestyle.
Folkloric Attire
Turkish folk dress is a traditional style of varying folk clothing worn primarily in the rural parts of Türkiye throughout the seven geographical regions of the country. Within the folk style of clothing are many variations and references that may be based on region, gender, ethnicity, the class of the wearer, culture and to a lesser extent religion.
In the Anatolian and South East parts of Türkiye, elderly men prefer more traditional clothing. The traditional male dress includes the şalvar, yelek (vest), and cebken (jacket).
