Pitch perfect: 5 ways to
wow your clients when you pitch
Sales
Effective sales pitches are key to building client relationships, confirming solutions, and pre-emptively addressing concerns.
Whether you’re presenting remotely, in-person, or offline in a recording, an exceptional pitch should engage, impress, and maybe even surprise your audience.
Here’s five easy ways to impress and engage your clients with Canva:
Part 1
Record your pitch to watch on-demand
If time zones and busy schedules mean you can’t pitch in person, we have a better solution than just emailing the PDF.
Recorded presentations in Canva make it possible for you to talk potential clients through your pitch presentation without losing precious context or that personal touch.
By pre-recording your pitch, you can effectively guide potential clients through the opportunity, ensuring no detail is missed. Your recorded presentation still carries your unique style and persuasive arguments, doing the hard work for you.
It’s perfect for reaching clients when they have time to watch, and giving them the freedom to absorb the information at their own pace.
Here’s how in three steps:
Step 1: Jump into the recording studio
With your sales pitch open in Canva, head to the Uploads tab. Set up your camera and microphone and hit record. You'll see your presentation and yourself in a bubble on the screen.
Step 2: Lights, camera, pitch
As you navigate through your pitch, explain each point in detail. Once you're done, end the recording and exit the recording studio. You’ll see your talking head videos on each slide in your deck.
Step 3: Share your pitch
From here, you can export your presentation as a video so clients can sit back and watch the pitch. Or you can create a view-only link so clients can navigate through the slides at their own pace, with your talking head guiding them through the deck.
Once you’re satisfied with your presentation, there’s nothing stopping you from sending this out to multiple clients, expanding your reach, and maximizing the impact without additional effort.
Part 2
Show your data, don’t tell
Presenting data can feel like walking a tightrope.
The challenge lies in translating raw numbers and intricate analytics into digestible, compelling information that holds your audience's attention and enhances their understanding.
Thanks to Canva Charts, you now have access to some of the world's most engaging data visualizations, such as interactive bubble charts, which allow potential clients to delve into data as they wish.
This powerful tool lets your data tell the story in a visually captivating manner with built-in animation and interactivity. So you can interact with charts live in your presentation, and let the client explore your data at their own pace later on.
From the editor, simply navigate to the elements tab, select charts, choose interactive charts, and take your pick.
Part 3
Animate your slides
Animations and transitions will help breathe life into your slides, but since they’re time-consuming to set up on other presentation platforms, you might be tempted to skip them.Animations and transitions will help breathe life into your slides, but since they’re time-consuming to set up on other presentation platforms, you might be tempted to skip them.
Lucky for you, Canva’s one-click animation tools and slide transitions make it incredibly easy to capture and keep your audience’s attention.
Our favorite feature is the easy-to-use ‘Match & Move’ transition, which automatically creates a smooth and seamless flow between pages by matching elements between slides and animating their movement. Perfect for creating a continuous narrative throughout the presentation.
Just click the transition button between your pages and select Match & Move. It couldn’t be easier.
Part 4
Add some sizzle with hotkeys
IIf you feel your presentation needs a little more zing, then look no further than Magic Shortcuts™.
Surprise and delight your audience by pressing the following keys on your keyboard when you’re in presenter mode.
And, if you need a timer to appear on the screen just tap any number (1 for one minute, 2 for two minutes, etc.) A lifesaver when you need to wrap up Q&A or group discussions.
What’s that? You’ve forgotten which key does what? No problem, just press Shift + / or ? on your keyboard to open the Magic Shortcuts™ menu.
Part 5
No more ‘next slide please’ with Remote Control
Everyone knows how awkward it feels to interrupt a live pitch and ask for the “next slide, please.”
That’s why we created a shareable remote control for presentations. So you can present smoothly, and focus on winning that client without worrying about slides.
Whether you’re pitching live from a remote location, or you’re in the room but not sitting at the laptop, you can use a remote control on another device, such as your phone, to control the flow of slides.
Plus, more than one person can control the presentation with remote control. Perfect for when you’re pitching with your peers, or want the client to have some interactivity as well.
Even better: those Magic Shortcuts we mentioned earlier are all available through the remote control.
You can share the link for the remote control from your presentation. Just hit Present, then find the remote control link in the More menu in the bottom right.
So, are you sold? Ready to take action? Jump into Canva presentations and start saving yourself time and effort, without losing the impact.
