Food

The traditional French cuisine is very much inspired by the regions. Dishes are often named after their areas of origin (fondue savoyarde, boeuf bourguignon, quiche lorraine, crêpes bretonnes etc.). With immigration from Asia and Northern Africa, French grew fond of Arabic and Asian dishes as well.

Music

Top music genres in France.

Hip-Hop & Rap

By far #1 genre in France for our audience. French artists Jul, Orelsan or Ninho own the podium for Gen Z. They speak directly to a connected audience with vocabulary, expressions and visuals that older crowds don't quite capture. Gen X and Y are super nostalgic of 90's quality of lyrics and rap musicality (French and US: MC Solar, IAM, NTM, 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Fugees, Notorious BIG, NAS...)

Nouvelle scène

A generation of new young French artists (also called new Variétés, for older generations) with more 'realistic' lyrics about current topics: feminism, diversity, sexuality, ecology, connectivity, depression... Angèle, Juliette Armanet, Clara Luciani, Thérapie Taxi, L'Impératrice, La Femme, Hervé, Pomme, Stromaé, Ben Mazué, Barbara Pravi...

Pop

Top genre for parties, French love to listen, sing and dance on international pop. Billie Eillish, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, Olivia Rodigro are top artists for our audience. Again, Millenials and Gen X will appreciate the current trend but favor the 90-2010' (Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Britney Spears, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Green Day, U2...)

Electro

France has a reputation to maintain when it comes to electro and house music. It all started with Jean-Michel Jarre in the 70's and grew with Cerrone, Laurent Garnier, Daft Punk, Justice, David Guetta, Vitalic or even DJ Snake... Their influence definitely has an impact on visual creativity in France.

Simple Arrow Line Icon.

Rock

National and international rock bands are loved. Alternative and indie are popular among younger culture. Gen X and Y are the most receptive to this genre, with both UK and French influence (Nirvana, Red Hot, The Cure, Radiohead, Lenny Kravitz, The Cranberries, Oasis, Noir Désir, Matmatah, Rita Mitsouko, Téléphone, Indochine, Bashung...)

Variétés (classic FR music)

This is #1 genre for older generations, and very much loved by younger generations who grew up listening to these French classics and seeing their parents get nuts on it. These tracks will come first in Karaoke, are massively played in weddings etc... These taps right into French culture and heart.

World Music

France is a land of immigration, with many various cultures. Organizations and communities try to make sure diversity is celebrated and represented, and there's definitely an appetite for French-Algerian Raï, African-influenced music, Brazilian bossa nova, latino rythms...

Kpop

The term K-pop includes many different musical elements and genres under its umbrella. Along with Korean pop, it can also include Korean rock music, hip hop, and electronic music. K-pop is considered a fairly new form of music. The type of K-Pop music that you’re listening to today was formed around the 1990s.
